Your yoga mat is more than just a surface; it’s your sanctuary, your support system, and a cornerstone of your practice.
Ensuring its longevity and maintaining its quality requires understanding what it’s made of and how to care for it properly. Let’s explore the materials behind our mats and the best practices for keeping them in pristine condition.
At Divine Goddess, we avoid harmful chemicals and ensure that every mat is free from PVC, phthalates, chemicals and glues. Our mats are crafted with eco-consciousness and performance in mind.
Here’s a breakdown of some popular materials we use:
Natural Tree Rubber: Derived sustainably from rubber trees, natural rubber is an exceptional choice for its superior grip and cushioning properties. Its biodegradable nature ensures it’s kind to the planet, making it perfect for those who value both performance and environmental impact.
Polyurethane Top Layer: our amazing Luna Mats feature a base of natural tree rubber combined with a PU top layer, which offers unparalleled grip and outstanding compression. This combination ensures stability and support during even the most challenging poses. The smooth, non-slip surface is particularly effective for sweat absorption, making it ideal for hot yoga or high-intensity sessions.
Microfibre Suede Top Layer (Eco Luxe Range): Our Eco Luxe mats feature an innovative microfibre suede top layer crafted from recycled plastic bottles. This soft and luxurious surface offers excellent traction when wet, providing an optimal grip during sweaty practices. By repurposing plastic waste, this material contributes to reducing environmental pollution while delivering premium performance.
Cork Top Layer: Found in our cork mats, this material is naturally antimicrobial, making it a hygienic option for your practice. Cork is harvested sustainably from the bark of cork oak trees without harming the tree itself. It provides a firm yet comfortable surface that’s perfect for practitioners seeking a blend of eco-friendliness and durability.
Each material is selected to ensure it aligns with our commitment to sustainability while enhancing your yoga experience.

How to Care for Your Mat
Proper care not only extends the life of your mat but also ensures it remains hygienic and supportive. Follow these tips.
Cleaning
🖤 Daily Maintenance: After each practice, wipe down your mat with a damp cloth. Please only use water to clean your mat, we don’t put chemicals in our yoga mats so we don’t clean them with chemicals.
🖤 Deep Cleaning: Once a month (or as needed), give your mat a more thorough clean. Use a solution of warm water. Avoid soaking your mat completely, especially if it’s made of cork.
🖤 Drying: Always air dry your mat flat, away from direct sunlight, to prevent material degradation.
Storage
🖤 Ensure your mat is completely dry before rolling it up, as rolling it while damp can cause damage to the material and lead to unpleasant odours.
🖤 Roll your mat with the top side out to prevent curling edges or damage.
🖤 Store it in a cool, dry place to protect it from dust and damage.
🖤 Leaving your yoga mat in a hot car during the summer is not recommended.
Extra Care Tips
🖤 Avoid using heavy oils or lotions before practice to minimise stains. We consider any marks "love marks" from your practice, reflecting your dedication and engagement.
🖤 Regular gentle cleaning and appropriate storage can help manage these marks and keep your mat in good condition.
By caring for your yoga mat, you honour your practice and our shared commitment to sustainability.
Love,
The Divine Goddess Team
